common signs of pregnancy
Every pregnancy is different, and early pregnancy symptoms can vary from person to person. Some individuals experience several symptoms, while others notice very few.
Common early signs of pregnancy include:
- A missed period
- Nausea or vomiting
- Changes in appetite or food cravings
- Fatigue or unusual tiredness
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Frequent urination
- Tender, swollen, or sore breast
SHOULD I TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST?
If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms listed above, taking a pregnancy test may be a good next step.
Pregnancy tests are typically accurate after a missed period and can help provide clarity about whether you are pregnant. If a pregnancy is confirmed, an ultrasound is the best way to determine how far along you are.
We offer free and confidential pregnancy testing and are here to answer your questions and support you as you consider your next steps.

FAQ
What type of pregnancy test do you provide, and how accurate is it?
We provide free urine-based pregnancy tests that detect the pregnancy hormone (hCG). When used as directed, these tests are approximately 99.5% accurate within 7 days of fertilization and are highly accurate after a missed period. However, no pregnancy test is 100% accurate in every situation.
What can affect the accuracy of a pregnancy test?
Factors such as testing too early can affect results. If there are questions about your result or pregnancy status, additional medical follow-up may be recommended.
Can a pregnancy test at the Wellington Pregnancy Care Centre replace medical care?
The Wellington Pregnancy Care Centre is not a medical clinic. Our pregnancy tests are provided for informational purposes and should not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or care from a healthcare professional.
Do I need OHIP or health insurance to access your services?
No. You do not need an Ontario Health Card (OHIP) to access our services. Our pregnancy tests, support services, education, resources, and practical programs are available free of charge to anyone experiencing an unexpected pregnancy or challenges as a new parent. We welcome people from all backgrounds and circumstances, including those who are new to Canada or do not have health coverage.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
